Thread: CJ7 Re-build V2

  1. #141
This has been interesting to watch. In the next few months I hope to start my work on my 85 CJ7 - just compiling parts now and looking to sell some parts to finance the build.
Hope it turns out half as nice as yours and I'll be happy. I'm going a bit different route thought - GM 5.3 V8 with NV4500.

I'll watch with interest! You should post your parts list just in case the CJ owners are purging or selling any "stock".

This has been an interesting build and you have done a fantastic job of keeping your build moving and ever improving, and one day I may even see it in person rolling down the road, or trail.

Looking forward to following Repete’s build once he gets working on it.

Keep up the good work fellas, keep them on the trails.

I'm sure that Repete's build will be very interesting as well.

Big cap distributor cap, tall rotor, new plugs, and wires today!
Did this upgrade on my first CJ7 and was impressed then.
Took awhile to find the parts I wanted. Blue cap brass post, blue tall rotor, even had a NOS set of MSD Blue wires.
    I can't say it enough.....
    WHAT A DIFFERENCE!
(Plugs and wires were only 2 years old and decent enough and it STILL made a very noticeable difference!
Smooth idle (finally!), instant power gain, more responsive, what else could you want?!

Need to cut the wires back (too long) bit I might end up with enough for a second set!

Photo shows the difference in rotor height.

Old shorty small cap, old 7mm wire (beside the cut off of the new 8mm MSD wire), old black rotor beside the new tall blue rotor, the grey riser (couldn't find it in low carbon blue...I'll keep looking), and one from on top so you can see how much more space it gives terminal to terminal.

Now that it's running right I can get on to the rear bumper and tire swing. Get the spare out of the cab....

    Then the damn welder....

Maybe an AC compressor for air...

After the bathroom reno is done and new deck is in that is......( just in case Max is reading this! Love you babe!).
